Individual-based league format

SportyHQ has developed the solo league format to help run competitions where there aren’t enough participants to support teams.

Solo leagues explained

A solo league is where individuals compete against each other on a regular basis. In each round, the administrator(s) of the solo league sets the match line-up between players and then enters the results at the end of the round. You can create multiple divisions to cater to different standards of players. The players are awarded points based on their results and the standings tables are updated. In effect, think of it as a team league, but each team only has one player or partnership.

Why use it?

Solo leagues are great for competitions where there aren’t enough players of equal standard to justify forming teams. You may also want to create a solo league when there is less appetite for players wanting to play on a regular basis, such as during a sport’s off-season. Solo leagues create a structured format where matches are scheduled by the administrator between individual players.

View player availability

To help with scheduling, players can indicate their availability through the SportyHQ interface. And if you have a limited number of positions available, you can cap the number of positions available each round. SportyHQ tracks the order in which players sign up and you can use this priority to decide who gets to play and who goes on standby.

Collect registrations with online payment

SportyHQ also supports the full registration process, allowing you to set early bird, regular and one-time entry rates. The registration process also allows you to request any additional information you need from players by letting you create custom data fields.

Set venues, times and court assignments

In addition to selecting the match pairings, you can choose multiple venues if the league is being played at more than one club. You can set match times, assign courts to matches and then either view online or print your schedule. In addition, when you’re scheduling matches, you can see which players have already faced each other in previous rounds, so you can keep the line-ups fresh.
