2024 Rust Remover Results

It was a very busy weekend, with lots of ups and downs due to weather. We persevered and was able to get both singles and doubles tournaments complete.
In the Singles Tournament, we started with 16 competitors on Saturday and got through Round 1 when it started to rain and did not stop. Round 2 started early this morning and by late morning we had our champion, Rene Alavarez, who defeated Mariano Chan in the final. From my recollection this is back to back championships for Rene. Congratulations Rene.
In the Doubles Tournament, we had 10 teams competing on Sunday. Much better weather today. It went from cloudy and cool this morning to sunny and hot this afternoon. We wrapped up around 5pm with Mariano Chan and Rick Kvas defeating Gilles Boudreau and Ryan Jones in the final. Congratulations Mariano and Rick.
Both singles and doubles champions went home with a medal.
Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered on the great tennis, enjoyed some good BBQ and had a great few days (at least today since yesterday everyone was huddled under our tents to avoid the rain.
