NWCSL Wrexham v Warrington

We travelled to Wrexham this week. I've never been to the Brymbo squash club before. It seems like an enthusiastic little club and hopefully they're enjoying their time in the top division and will be a permanent fixture in division one for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately for the Welsh club they were without top string Owain Taylor who was on PSL duty. This made it a tough challenge from the get-go, especially as we had Adrian Waller playing his first match of the season for us (below).

All matches were pretty straight-forward for the Warrington Massive, but that is to say each Wrexham opponent didn't put up a good fight. All five of their guys ran well and hit hard and tried to make life difficult for all of our players. They were probably all playing one position too high so it will be a great match I'm sure, when Wrexham visit us next half and hopefully they have Owain available to push everyone down a place (below: James, Charles, Emily, and Sam).

The final results were:

This took Warrington to the top of the league for the first time this season as we'd played a game less and have always been playing catch up. We jump above Liverpool for the first time who are now in second place, and have a chance to extend our lead as Liverpool have still to miss a week when we play due to their being an odd number of teams in the league.

We play Northern 1 at home next Tuesday with Adrian Waller AND James Willstrop playing for us! Hopefully I might be back after missing my first ever games for Warrington as I've some pretty serious glut and hip flexor issues. Fingers crossed.
